“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
It is no small wonder that you are alive and that I am writing to YOU.
One thing that’s become ever more apparent this year is just how precious life is. It isn’t straight forward to be born into this world or to leave it. It is wrought with difficulty, but also utter brilliance.
I find a beautiful synergy in the Lao Tzu words and the journey(s) I am on.
While navigating what feels like some of life’s most difficult experiences – life, birth, death, you know! – I am also within some of the most beautiful, sacred, fulfilling, and opportune places for growth. While it may feel MURKY it’s also as if my roots are being firmly re-planted again.
To help me ‘move through’ some of these experiences and re-reconnect with the gifts I’ve been given, on Sunday I challenged myself to hike some mountains, SOLO!! (When the mountains are calling, I must go!)
It was the best day for it. Being Father’s Day, I felt this was one way to honour and show gratitude to the man who helped give me the gift of life as well as the gift of being his daughter. (Happy Father’s Day, Dad!)
I started with an easy 900+ stairs at the Giant Staircase at Echo Point in Katoomba and then went to check if the Wentworth Pass had been reopened since the tragic fatalities last year, which I found it had not. I needed more stairs (not something I used to seek out!?), so I went on the (open) Wentworth Track to the Falls and back up, probably scaling 1000+ giant stairs throughout the morning. It felt GOOD.
I levelled down the fright-factor by taking on the Giant Staircase and Wentworth Falls (relatively easy, lactic acid notwithstanding) – but next time I’d like to do Perry’s Lookdown instead to really test myself. It was all beautiful anyway and I am glad I listened to that call.
As you can see, the day was thoroughly rewarding!
Though I may feel like some days I am 1 step and other days 1000 steps into my 1000 mile journey(s), I love spending time in nature to take stock, reflect and get the boost I need to keep moving forward.
There’s only one way out of the bush…
One step at a time.

Time in nature is a healer, teacher and wise guide if we listen. There’s peace in nature. The endorphins and vitamin D kick in, and there’s beauty in our intwined spirits. I am so grateful for my adventures and the spirit to step out of my comfort zones and into (eventual) magic.
I see trees of green, my red face too. 😂
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”―
Our lives are constant opportunities for reinvention…
Up-levelling in all life’s dichotomies…
I wonder what level is next…
Love & Light,
Julie
