Who’s the kid on the hike? Oh wait, that’s me…
Among the burn in the legs, the sore arches and the mental game of putting one foot in front of the other up the hills, I find so much joy and accomplishment from hiking – and the elation of being a child again.
This time we went from Cowan Station to Berowra Waters return…
An easy 16km Sunday stroll for half of the group.
In the last year, my husband has started organising hikes for clients of his group personal training studio in Hornsby, Freeman’s Fitness, as well as anyone interested in getting outdoors and exploring.
We had a record 10 people with us and it was a beautiful day of laughs while we got the endorphins pumping.
It never ceases to amaze me how much hiking teaches me, about myself, connection, strength, others, and the beauty around us and in us…
And how good it feels to get back outside after a sluggish couple of months (dealing with new experiences that caught me off guard but are teaching me so much), and how spectacularly nature heals.
Enjoy the photos of this spectacular Winter’s day, when the sun decided to show its face for us! I just love it here.
“If we surrendered
to earth’s intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. … There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” — Rachel Carson
“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
— John Muir
