As you might have read in my last post, ‘The Allure of Junk Part II: Keep It Simple,’ I’ve been taking time out to unbusy myself, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to write that post at all. I’ve been reading, writing, cleaning, being a ‘no-man’ to more commitments, reassessing my diet, and exercising, but not without going on a double-date to the VIVID Sydney Festival of Light, Music & Ideas at Circular Quay during the week.
Despite all I’ve been saying about eating healthily, I didn’t that night – a true night off. We ate schnitzels and drank wine at the Bavarian Bier Cafe (best service in town) before heading off to see the lights around the harbour near the Sydney Opera House, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in our sights.
I don’t have a lot to say, so instead I will quote blogger Blog – Local Measure, who says (about the festival of light), “[Digital] can augment reality, but it can never be reality. Its inherent intangibility makes it reliant on what is tangible. So if you happen to find yourself at Vivid Sydney in the near future, or anything like it, let yourself be blown away by the digital exposition, but also consider the pivotal role the tangibility of what is real plays in digital’s thriving existence.”
It was a gorgeous evening, with people strolling through the city streets, entranced by the lights, feeling drizzles of rain, and experimenting with night photography. Here are some pictures from my Vivid experience (next time I’m bringing a better tripod and a boyfriend who doesn’t bump me on purpose).
